Re: Tell us about Yourself

Hello everyone!
I am Daniel and i make biodiesel with a friend from some monts ago. we use palm fat and sunflower oil mixed together, as the palm fat is 70 - 80 % about. I am working as system administrator. We are making  bio for our cars. My one is Citroen C5 2.0HDI (2005y.), his is Mercedes CDI 220. Both of them likes bio, woks greather than with dino. We make bio in a small reactor in batches of 40l fat and 10l metoxide. We make two batches, setlled them. and water wash them together. Few days ago we made biger reactor from 208l oil barrel. We have make 300l about bio.

Re: Tell us about Yourself

Hi all.  My name is Bill and I live in Northern Ca.  I teach Auto shop in Modesto and I have a small 30 gal. Appleseed processor.  I make just enough to mix bio with dino (about B20) for my 99 VW TDI bug.  I am trying to fly under the radar so that I don't tic anybody off (what can I say, I love my job.).  I do biodiesel as a hobby.

Re: Tell us about Yourself

Hi all Im Marc,

I live in So Cal.

I love the allure of Biodiesel. Of course, cost savings is an important part for all however, I am interested in the using waste to power my truck, generators, etc.

I purchased a processor from someone local. One of those kit systems with the conical bottoms. He included approx 60gal of Methanol and 20lbs of Potash.

I am excited to get started. I reckon I need some stuff. Safety gloves, Mask, Tritation test kit, Scale and even some storage containers.

I am hoping obtaining the used oil will not be much problem.

At this point, I am scared! I want evertthing to go smoothly. The methanol is the main issue. I wish I didnt have that much at home! I reckon after my first batch, I will purchase only enough at one time to process one batch.

I would love for someone to come over to the house and supervise my first batch.

I know other people across the country are doing this home biodiesel processing with no problems however I just want to be safe smile

Thanks for reading.

Any tips are much appreciated.

Marc

Re: Tell us about Yourself

HI, my name is Caleb.  I've been learning about, making, and working in biodiesel since 2007.  I got started out at Piedmont Biofuels Cooperative in NC and now live in Austin TX working for DieselGreen Fuels.  I really like small and farm scale production and teach workshops from time to time.  I'm always interested in whats going on in the homebrew world and like to hear about the projects and designs other people are using.  I promote the decentralized model for biodiesel and really enjoy the open source nature of the technology.  I look forward to jumping in on some of the discussions and hope I can contribute as well.

Cheers

Re: Tell us about Yourself

Hi my name is Dennis, from White Oak Swamp, Virginia. I got two GMC trucks with 6.5L motors,  I haven't made any BioD yet but I found two grills that can provide more than enough  WVO.    3 kids 4 german shepherds 1 wife,  I'm retired Navy with a job at the USPS as a technician.   I'm little leary of starting with out some help from somebody in my area.   Anybody from the Richmond area?   sure could use the help.
